T-Minus 12 Days!!Good Evening Everyone….Yes I am still here and shit yes this countdown is still going. Yes the Boston Marathon has past but my commitment to Dana Farber for 2012 is not over.12 Days until I complete my first IRONMAN. And why? Well I realized last year that I was able to generate more donations when I did 2 marathons in 2 weeks. So in hopes of generating more donations I did something even dumber. A marathon and an IRONMAN in 4 weeks. So Dana Farber….Well your donation is going to help the Claudia Adams Barr program for Innovated Basic Cancer Research. The program is the gateway for Dana Farber to reach the ultimate finish line; A World Without Cancer. So please if you haven’t already, please please donate at www.JohnnyMarathon.com we are almost to $6,000 on this years JohnnyMarathon campaign.
I am still getting over the amazing weekend that was back on April 16th. I truly find my happiness in running with Dana Farber. My teammates are honestly my motivation to continue running and to continue to fight for Dana Farber. Words cannot explain how Dana Farber and the last 5 years of experiences have affected my life. I truly do not know where I would be without them. Until you are part of it, experienced it, believe in it, and sacrifices for it…you may never understand. I am tired of hearing about Cancer! Its coming closer to home for me personally and I don’t want it. I feel like this shit is like the game Battleship. So many hits near by, but no direct hits. Please help my teammates and I fight for Dana Farber and you: www.JohnnyMarathon.comThank you all who donated following Boston. In that week alone, I think we had close to $1,000. And a weird donation from "Yew Sexy".
My training is where it is. Wow, in 12 days I am going to be an IRONMAN. You know right after Boston, I didn’t care for this race much more, I found it more of a burden. I am a marathon runner, a damn good marathon runner. I was upset with myself for not focusing on my running. But the last few weeks with some solid training in the pool, on the bike, and on the legs, I am back in the IRONMAN spirit. My bike is ready to get picked up to be driven down to Texas, swim workouts have been kicking my ass, and I am running fast…real fast. I am spending much time on a foam roller every night. Unfortunately, massages are not in the budget so I am doing the best I can. I cooked a fury of pasta, chicken, and string beans tonight. I guess it’s the final count down.
Weather in Houston is looking like high 80’s/ low 90’s with at least 70% humidity. Oh well. I chose Texas for the Mother Nature aspect that no one can train for. I am excited for this challenge. What I am truly looking forward to is how much more we can raise for Dana Farber. I don’t feel that personally I have much to talk about or have accomplished but I do take pride in my work for Dana Farber. So please help me and do that un selfish act I ask of you all every year. Please donate to Dana Farber….T-Minus 12 days…holy shit…In 12 days I am going to swimming, riding a bike, and running for over 12 hours straight and covering over 140 miles. Unfriggen real.
