This week, I'm road-tripping home to Pennsylvania with Ben and our kitties. I plan to relax, spend time with friends and family, and drink lots of cheap beer. I'll be taking a break from blogging while I'm gone, but, lucky for you, I have some fabulous guest bloggers lined up! If you miss me too much, follow along on Twitter.
Even though I’m not in school anymore, fall still seems like a time for “new beginnings.” This fall, I decided that I am going to start training to run a half-marathon in the spring. In order to do this, I need to train during the colder months of fall and winter. I’ve been searching around for the necessary items to stay warm when running in the cold. Here is a list of five “essential” running items I came up with for the fall:
1. Saucony’s Women’s Sonic HDX ViZiPRO Jacket (Picture from Saucony)
I recently purchased this jacket from Saucony and absolutely love it. The bright pink color, along with the LED piping makes it easier to stay visible to others when running. You can charge the lighting of your jacket with the USB—very handy!
2. Women’s Essential Capri (Picture from Brooks)
During the fall months, I find it too cold to wear shorts and too warm to wear long pants. So, why not choose capris! These capris are from Brooks Running, which is one of my favorite running apparel companies.
3. Runder Under Long Sleeve (Picture from lululemon)
Fall runners, like myself, love base layers. When it gets colder, I can easily throw more clothes on to stay warm when I run, but for the fall, base layers are great. Lululemon Athletica has this reversible base layer, with thumbholes on the sleeves. This is an awesome item to start your fall runs with.
4. Winter Running Headband (Picture from The North Face)
Ears are often forgotten about when wanting to stay warm in the cold. This headband from The North Face also has a loop to connect your sunglasses.
5. Pulse Lite Glove (Picture from Brooks Running)
I always run with my iPod, which makes it difficult to wear gloves at the same time. So, Brooks Running thought up the idea to make a thumb pad compatible to change your tunes. These gloves come in many different colors and are lightweight enough that they do not feel to heavy on your hands.
Remember that if you are on a tight budget, you can usually search for these items at TJMaxx (one of my favorite activities!) or other discount stores. Happy running!
